Packages

Buy the desk you run today. Grow into the rest.

Octane is one platform, split into four working areas — trading, operations, settlement, and risk & control — plus an analytics add-on. Buy the one that matches how your desk works today, and add another the moment the business needs it: a switch you turn on, not a new project. Same records, same history, same audit trail, the whole time.

The four working areas

Each package runs one part of your business, start to finish.

Trade, Operate, Settle and Control map to how a trading business is actually organised — front office, operations, finance, and risk. Buy one and it works standalone from day one. Buy more, and they all read and write the same records — nothing to re-enter, nothing to reconcile between them.

Trade

Front office

Where the book is made — capture, contracts and pricing, with the position moving as you type.

  • Trade capture & amendments
  • Master contracts, term & spot
  • Pricing & market data
  • Deal economics
  • Counterparty & KYC

Operate

Middle office

Where the molecules move. Nominations, chartering, inspections, inventory and stock valuation — the physical reality the trade promised, tracked against it.

  • Chartering & operations
  • Gas & LNG operations
  • Inventory & stock valuation
  • Planning & scheduling
  • Carbon registry

Settle

Back office

Where the money lands. Final quantities and qualities become invoices, cashflow and ledger entries without anyone re-keying a number into a spreadsheet.

  • Settlement & invoicing
  • Treasury & cashflow
  • Accounting & billing
  • Reconciliation
  • Secondary costs & demurrage

Control

Risk & governance

Where you prove it. Market and credit exposure, approval workflows, segregation of duties, and an audit trail that reconstructs any record on any date — for the regulator, the auditor or the board.

  • Market & credit risk
  • Approval workflow & maker-checker
  • Roles, permissions & scoped access
  • Immutable audit trail
  • Data quality & governance

Advanced Analytics

Priced separately

Where you get ahead. A dimensional warehouse, a governed KPI layer and refinery-grade trade economics. Charged separately because it carries its own data infrastructure rather than riding on the transaction database.

  • A dedicated analytics engine, built for speed
  • Margin, netback & crude selection analytics
  • Report workbench & scheduled alerts
  • Forecasting & scenario comparison
  • Executive dashboards

Enterprise

All packages

Every package, every module, across every legal entity and desk you run — with complete data separation between entities, single sign-on and your own private deployment if you want it.

  • All five packages
  • Multi-entity & multi-desk
  • SSO and directory integration
  • Private cloud or on-premises
  • Named implementation team

Included in every package

The things you should never have to buy twice.

Full audit trail

Every change recorded automatically, with who, when and what it was before.

Roles & permissions

Scoped by organization, entity, desk and book — read-only roles included.

Web & desktop

The same platform in the browser or as an installed client on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Your own wording

Interface copy and terminology are editable at runtime, in English, German, Russian and French.

Common questions

What buyers ask before the first demo.

What is a CTRM system?

A CTRM (commodity trading and risk management) system is the platform a trading business runs its book on. It captures physical and paper trades, values positions against market curves, tracks credit and market exposure, schedules and tracks cargoes, and settles the money — replacing the spreadsheet estate most desks accumulate. Octane covers that whole lifecycle in one audited platform.

How is Octane different from a spreadsheet-based trading operation?

A spreadsheet cannot tell you who changed a price, when, or on whose approval. Octane records every change as an immutable audit event, routes governed changes through maker-checker approval, and emits domain events so downstream modules react automatically. Position, risk and settlement all read from the same records, so the desk, the risk team and finance stop reconciling three versions of the truth.

Which commodities does Octane support?

Crude oil, refined products, natural gas and LNG, coal, and carbon credits — physical and paper, spot, term and master-contract structures. Units, quality specifications, conversion factors and pricing conventions are configured per commodity rather than hard-coded.

How is Octane licensed and priced?

Octane is licensed by package: Trade, Operate, Settle and Control, plus Advanced Analytics. Start with the one that matches how your desk works today and turn on another as the operation grows — the platform is one system, so adding a package unlocks modules rather than starting a migration. Advanced Analytics is charged separately because it carries its own data infrastructure. Founding clients get a free, customizable development application and a 30-day full-feature trial.

Can Octane run on our own infrastructure?

Yes. Octane runs as a browser application, as a mirrored desktop client for Windows, macOS and Linux, and can be deployed into your own cloud tenancy or data centre. It is a Java and PostgreSQL stack with no proprietary runtime dependency.

How long does implementation take?

Because reference data, permissions, approval workflows and even interface wording are configured rather than coded, a single-desk deployment is measured in weeks rather than the multi-year programmes this category is known for. Founding clients are onboarded alongside the team that builds the product.

Tell us how your desk works. We will tell you what it costs.

A 30-minute call is usually enough to scope the editions you need. Founding clients get development at no cost and a full year before any maintenance contract starts.
